Default My 100th Blog post - it's fun, it's informative, it supports charity

    Ok guys,
Blog post #100 - figured I better make it count.

So what did I come up with? A wager, that's right a bet.

But how could you make a bet interesting, fun, and relevant to real estate / web development.

Here's a hint: In order to make it happen, I had to put my house of for sale

You can read about it here: Can a SEO sell a house faster than a Realtor

I am really going to need to call on my entire online SOI to win this thing - basically I need your help. Tonight I will be updating the post in terms of where I am going to be marketing my property in order to generate leads. Once I have everything in place, I will be asking everyone to pass on a link to the post, email the blog to their friends or anyone else that might know someone that might know someone who wants to buy a house in Nanaimo, BC, Canada (6 degrees of separation right?)

Some initial places I will be marketing this property

    Craiglist
    Google Base
    REW Blogs
    nanaimoinformation.com

I will also be spreading the word about the contest at all my social networking sites:

    REW Blogs
    Active Rain
    Squidoo
    LinkedIn
    Myspace
    Technoratti
    Facebook
    (Will add to the list)

Check out the post and let me know if you have any ideas - I want to win!

We will actually be creating a poll module this week for the blogs, I will post some options for my choices and users can vote on what they want to see Michael in

Set up an account at postlets.com

I know you know how to write code, but, to save time you can fill a few data fields and upload some pictures. It autimatically submits to Trulia, Google and some others. Then you click post on Craiglist and it gives you the html code that is creating your postlets flyer. You then copy and paste it right into craigslist (it will link you to it) and it reposts your cool looking flyer. Much better looking than a regular craiglist post...

    Here's what one looks like:

Oh. It's free. I'm sending you 3 blog links tonight.

Was definitely planning on using postlets actually, forgot to mention that - for those not familiar with the application, I was going to post where it will end up, instead of what I am using to get it there so those not so familiar can get a sense of where people marketing properties online put their properties

This is cool! Surely I will send you some links; I'm interested to see how this turns out to prove a point to my broker. He thinks that I'm in my office doing nothing when working on SEO for my site in the mornings during Lead Generation time. Hehe.

Here's a question: How did you figure out your list price? Exposure does you little good if the home is priced incorrectly.

List price? Easily actually, did a CMA with Michael, followed by a tour by the local Re/Max agents

CMA compared other homes in the hospital area with similar features, looked at available inventory and sold inventory so far this year - looked at price purchased (10 months ago) and increase in property values sinse then (Was purchased for around $300k before MANY upgrades, including a killer bathroom with hugh 2 person jetta tub, separate stand up showing, skylight, and heated floors

The broker feedback averaged quite close to what we have it listed at - we are anticipating a couple grand negotiating room, as is the case with most sales.

Well Morgan, in support of your quest, I will donate a banner ad in Harbour Living Weekly, a free weekly enewsletter produced by HarbourLiving.ca , that is sent to just over 7,200 subscribers. Currently, the majority of these subscribers are based in Nanaimo, so it will be a regionally targeted audience.

Also, I would like to suggest you donate the funds to the Nanaimo SPCA. They could really use the funds!

    Best of luck!

    Sold!

I've always found that homeowners are excellent salesmen/saleswomen of their homes when putting it on the market. Your the one that knows the most about the home, aside from your agent who is probably "2nd" in the know.

Morgan, Looks like you will have a whole network of Realtors working to help sell your home which is kinda ironic since the bet is can a seo sell a home faster than a Realtor? .
Good luck and I can't wait to see the poll on what the outfit will be .

Steve you are working on your lead generation when working on seo, no need to justify that to your Broker
