    Default Squidoo Questions

I can't seem to figure out what's up here. I have links pointing towards my atlanta real estate lens. I'm commenting and rating others...I can't get the thing out of the SI. What seems to be working for those of you having success?

here's a dead link to mine www. squidoo.com/atlanta-real-estate

Any thoughts on how to improve it would be appreciated.

Looks like you have a bit of canonical URL issue. Stick with just one version of the site. Pereferably the one w/ trailing slash. It's used in the internal squidoo navigation by default. Well this is just part of the problem.

As you get more linklove to your lens it will return to the main index.

I'm not sure I understand you.

    canonical URL issue?????

    I only created one version - I think. If I made 2 I didn't mean to.

Can you expand on that for me please?

Every lens created on squidoo is visible under two URLs

    squidoo.com/lens
    squidoo.com/lens/

So the same content will be duplicated on both versions. I guess it's not something to worry about as long as you are consistent in linking to one of the versions only.

You'll find more about this here

This is the first time I have been told the slash afterwards effects the canonical status of your site. I knew the www. or not effected it and /index.php or not effected it but I have always thought the whatever.com and whatever.com/ were the same. I don't think Matt's blog exactly addressed this specifically. Interesting!

Ryan - I think it is just a matter of links and interlinking. My squid http://www.squidoo.com/columbus_ga_real_estate/ broke into the top 100 for business today.

I will have to let the real gurus on here tell us more about the / effects on canonization. I am just and SEO pup.

A trailing slash after the site URL is proper. Not including the trailing slash after the site URL will not cause a problem (canonicalization).

    Example:
    salespractice.com/
    salespractice.com

With that said, Google would treat the two URLs below as separate URLs which could cause a problem (canonicalization)

    1. squidoo.com/lens
    2. squidoo.com/lens/

It might help to imagine that URL #1 is a page named "lens" and URL #2 is a directory named "lens".

Isn't there a thread by Jeff about a minimum amount of posts in order to show up?
