Just like your website, your blog should be marketed. I wanted to start a thread about some ways that you all market your blogs. Please add the ways you market your blog so we can all grow together.

I add my blogs to the blog listing services. Technorati
I also add easy to add feeds to all the feed services.
I then add my blog to about 10-15 free blog directories.
I have my blog feed display my latest blog posts on Squidoo.

I am sure I do more things but I am very interested to see what everyone else does to promote/market there blogs!

Viral marketing to my email SOI - write an email to anyone you know who might be interested in the blog post, ask them to pass it on to their friends, comment and or link to it if they find it interesting or helpful to their users.

Getting my RSS feeds submitted and published in as many places as possible

Teaching people: Write something that others will appreciate without wanting something in return. If you write a great topic specific tutorial users will appreciate it, link to it in online discussion or use it as a reference.

Humor, a great way (Be careful with this one) to get people to appreciate your content and link to it.

Controversy (Once again be careful, and make sure you are right) - pick a hot topic that will get people talking, pick the right side and make a great point. Lots of links.

Photos: Amazing, funny, spectacular, beautiful etc - post great photos (Or videos) and get lots of links

Here are some others of my favorites:

Commenting on other Authoritative blogs relevant to your blog subject. This connects you with industry leaders and provides you with exposure at the same time. It is one of my faves.

Authenticity-Be who you are--it is VERY effective in getting people to link to you and work with you.

Cross promote your blog with other media. (Drain the swamp) Reference your blog when doing any sort of press or advertising.

Group blog --have a friend or two blog with you and you promote their articles and they promote yours (disagreeing with them as stated above is PROMOTION). Additionally, if your industry is controversial, you can take both sides of an issue and argue it out that way. Fun and productive.

It's all up to what the goal of your blog is. What do you want it to accomplish? Why not think offline. Post the address in all your print ads, business cards, etc. Post local market news relevent to your area. List your new house listings there with photos. Partner with other local businesses, mortgage companies, banks, etc. Interview local professionals. All this builds your local credibility. People find it hard to get local info, fill this niche and watch your leads increase.
