    Default Looking for Opinions.....

    Evening All!!

    I've had my license about 2 years now, having started with Century 21. I went briefly to another company but the pressure to produce was a bit outrageous.

    I've returned to Century 21 at the momment but was wondering if anyone would share their opinions, pro and con, about other brokerages. Feel free to send via private message here or to me at emicarn@gmail.com if you wish.

    Just trying to do some research.

    Thanks!!

    Are you asking about franchises in general? they are independently owned and can be different from one to the next.

    If you are you asking for some opinions that are specific to your market then post your market area.

    Was thinking more in general....

    Although I'd more specific opinions from the North shore area in Boston are appreciated.

    Richard;

    I am with Jim on this..while a franchise chain can have some benefits to the REALTOR, the person who TRULY can make it or break it is the broker.

    I am a technologist with a large RE/MAX franchise. Our broker is awesome. He invests in the technology and pays me well to work with our agents and help them succeed. There are now 9 (count 'em!) other RE/MAX franchises in Louisville. IMO what they offer agents is WAY less than what is offered at our office. There are other offices with other franchises that offer more to their agents.

    I do think that REMAX's brand strength is a plus ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL, but it RARELY is. At the end o' the day...it is the broker and their willingness to invest in the things you need to succeed relative to the split/fees they charge.

    Good question!

    Best;

    If you wanted to compare the big franchises in general it is hard to say much. I think Coldwell Banker, ERA, and C21 are all still part of the same organization. I doubt they are much different. Remax has a good image, KW is growing like crazy and has some cool training and team building stuff. I wouldn't worry much about those things, but instead on who is running the actual office you would work out, where it's located, their local reputation, etc. Those things will matter more than the corporate identity of the franchises.

    Every brokerage is differently, even in nearby cities a big name brokerage can be run completely different. I would talk to individual agents from offices that you are interested in so that you can find the right fit for you. I'm at a RE/MAX office in town simply because the broker doesn't compete with agents. Her job is to find business for the office and assist her agents with their business. However, I do like the business model of KW but the office in town has a competing broker with their own team and I would just be a number there.
