Red face Quality Links, but how

ok, call me uneducated, call me inexperienced, just call me.

The dilemma, how do you build quality one way links without having to create everything that links to you. I just looked at a member of the forums links just to try to understand a little of where people are getting links from. I looked at every link that was showing up as a PR1 or higher. According to Firefox, and a Back link checker, every one of those links has a no-follow on it. Are we fast coming to the day where nearly every link that is not paid for will have a no-follow tag on it?

What does a person have to do to be able to find quality sites that you can get a link from. I have come across several sites that I could get a quality link or two from, but in order to do that I would have to get a artical writen that they would approve and publish. No guaranty. Of course the quality that they want is way way beyond my abilities, and oh yah they want it on a current news event related to real estate, once again, no guaranty they will publish. No publish no link, meaning if you pay someone else to do this, it is a almost total waist of precious cash.

What back link checker are you using? It could be that the checker itself is "no-following" the links as it shows them to you, but that in reality they're not "no-followed."

Just a guess, since I don't know the exact circumstances.

I have the No-Follow extention installed in firefox, so any link with a no-follow on it shows up with a pink box around it. and also I have used this tool. http://www.backlinkwatch.com/

Thanks Eric, I will read that shortly. I have found that unless you want to skim through many different things here in the forum it is sometimes very difficult to find what you are looking for if it was discussed 3 or more months ago.

The blog post that ericbramlett provided is a great resource. The best way to get a huge influx of quality inbound links is also one of the most difficult and that is creating link worthy content. Creating linkbait can be time consuming and difficult but if you are able to pull it off you can get a ton of natural one way links that provide great value for your site.

Some master linkbaiters and blogs that can help you understand linkbaiting a bit more and you may be able to get some ideas from them as well.

Hey, I'm no better. I giggle like a 12 year old whenever I see a mention of a Google hand job (as opposed to an algorithmic removal)

Jim - I see what you mean. I guess all I can say is keep looking for sites that don't nofollow and when you find one, milk it.

But mostly I have to agree with Mark, building quality (and that means QUALITY) content works best of all, it just take time.
