    Default Yahoo Directory submission

I am wondering about this. I am still working on my site, mainly the look of it but not so much the information on it. Anyway I was holding off on submitting to the yahoo directory because I was not done and was concerned with getting rejected. On the other hand there is the concern about link aging and from what I have been told if my yahoo links are 1 month old and my competitors are 2 years old hers are likely worth more.

Please teach me as I need to learn on this one?? Should I go ahead and submit now or wait for a while. It is not a question of if but a question of when.

    Thanks,

    Jim

Good luck with Dmoz, I have not submitted to that for the above stated reasons.

I really need to spend more time on my site and less in the forum, but the forum is more fun.

The other ongoing thread re: Yahoo Directory had several comments saying that basically they just want the money, and that no ones gets rejected unless you have some porn or gambling on your site.

If anyone has been rejected from the Directory speak up!

I'm with you on that. It's also a bummer competing against older sites that have outdated information, irrelevant information or are not even in your market and are ranking higher primarily because of their age.

I also have the perception that doing too much, too fast can be detrimental. Any thoughts on this? It's also confusing to see that paid directories are frowned upon and in actuality, is that not what the Y! submission is?

    Hey Eric,

Did Yahoo reject one of your sites? If so did they give a reason?

I still have never submitted my site to the Yahoo Directory. I go back and forth deciding if it would be worth the money. Maybe it would help with Yahoo rankings more than anything, but I don't know.

When I was banned from Yahoo for a couple of years, I was still #1 in the Yahoo directory. Obviously, it brought VERY little traffic. I don't think it makes any difference on the organic results, but that is my humble opinion.

    Hi Jim,

I think your site looks good. I would go ahead and submit to Yahoo. I know when I submitted one of my sites it definitely got some major recognition by them. I don't think that they are so concerned with the look as they are with the content of a site.

It used to be that I recommended submitting to the Yahoo directory. Now I think it is a meaningless submission, especially for anyone involved in real estate.
