Default Coming Up With Domain Name Names for Print

I've been acquiring some domain names for my area... at $6/yr they are cheap enough to hold on to anyway... but my question is:

How do you choose a good name for print/signs/etc?

I've been using a thesarus for some synonyms but it seems like it comes down to bad, good and good but hard to find "the best."

All the good ones are taken, Aaron.

OK, not entirely. Like everything (it seems) getting a good domain these days just takes patience and the willingness to look at things from different angles.

    Rule of thumb:

2 words or less if possible.
The less number of total letters, the better.
    Proper spelling of all words.
    Easy to say and read.
And of course, relative to your product/service.

There's a website that might make things easier - instantdomainsearch dot com. You can brainstorm quickly and see whether names are available or not right away.

    Good luck.

It's hard to find good ones anymore, unless you are buying one that someone else registered. I just sold a domain for $5000 last week (no site). That was the first one I have sold in several years.

Remember the below things when choosing a domain name:
    1) Something simple and short
    2) Unique and memorable
    3) Pertains to business in some way
    4) Make sure it's a .com as .net, .org, .biz, etc. seem informal to many

    I hope that helps.

I've only bought domain names through GoDaddy, however, they are less expensive through Yahoo. Is there a reason? Thanks.

Not sure why they are cheaper Anne, but I am in the process of moving my domain from Y to godaddy since Y doesn't allow me to do things like 301 my non www to the www.

Brian Mc - I've heard from a few people that Go Daddy is not a great hosting company. I'm not saying I agree with what I've heard but, if its not too late, you may want to look into other companies or read some Go Daddy reviews.

Aaron - try and get a domain name that includes one of your competitive keywords - e.g. NewHomesEdina.com is available (not sure what you're looking for but...) hope this helps

LOL just looked at the date and am pretty sure you bought a domain name by now

domain.com offer up an alternative domain name engine, so if you search for cedarrealestate.com and it's taken it will offer a thousand similar or relative domain names. I then go and register it somewhere cheaper
