I think Squidoo is back! I did a lens on TRIDEC, http://www.squidoo.com/tridec/ and noticed it is number 2 in Google. Not a very competitive term, however if Squidoo were penalized it would show up at all.

Squidoo's penalty or devalueing or whatever happened was not like the one you had. If you searched for squidoo it would come up #1 after the penalty and I had one lower competitive term that my squid never left the first page for. I don't know what happened to it - it obviously lost value but was not penalized like a - 30 or something.

I'm not sure what kind of penalty Squidoo acquired. Whatever happened was a good thing, as Squidoo's staff took action by eliminating much of the spam and/or dead lenses, thus increasing the rankings for the rest of us.

Google spanked them a little. I had lenses ranking in the top ten for competitive terms and they are gone. BUT they are still pulling in long tail searches. Squidoo basically deactivated a lot of lenses to see who notices and puts them back into active status. I think theory was that spammers wouldn't be back (on to spam elsewhere) and legit lens owners would immediately put their lenses back up. At least, that's my theory.

Good eye Charles... I just logged in and only one of my lens' was turned on still. Of course, the one I still see ranking. LOL

I read a post from Morgan on his blog about Activerain being on the spammy side as far as outbound links. He was recomending that they only allow a few links per post. Does anyone know if they have changed the rules. If not sounds like they could get pentalized like squidoo
