Nice article SkiRe, however had I have had the chance, I would have asked if this included the algorithm for “Real Estate”.

Does anyone in this forum believe that there is NOT a special "Real Estate" algorithm?

That would make a GREAT Poll question Morgan.

I'm not sure if it's a seperate algo...but I think you're on to something here

The workd "homes" in the search term seems to trigger something as well.....a poll sounds good.

I agree and have been told it's true by a few that really know their stuff.

I would think of it as more of a filter than an algo. An algo has dealings with what the spider finds at your site and other sites that connect to you....a filter is applied to search results to restirct the display of certain search terms. Which is why the -asdf -sadfa -sdf ect...worked for awhile. I also think searches that have a location involved...state or city...also go under some filter.

This would be a good test. Create a page for a town that doesn't exits and optimize it for "NonExistantTown Real Estate"....see what happens.

From my experience...I will build a site and optimize the entrance for "SomeTown Real Estate". Then I added subpages for SomeTown Homes, SomeTown Condos, SomeTown Land. I always rank higher, sooner, for the SomeTown Land and SomeTownCondos long before I rank anywhere for SomeTown Homes and SomeTown Real Estate.

Filter not algo I agree 100%. Wasn't thinking when I agreed to it being a different algo. No way they have written multiple algo's based on industry, but having diferent filters set at different levels for each industry based on what manipulations are commonly used by site owners in that industry makes a lot of sense.

Yes, filter would be a better choice of words.

    I have noticed that too.

The point being, that there are separate “Rules of Engagement” for real estate sites in Google. So I really don’t trust any broad based statements by Google unless they specifically mention “Real Estate”.

This includes linking to multiple sites owned by the same agent on the same IP address.
