They are all good points, Morgan. It's a bit lengthy, but the recommendations at the bottom seem to nail it on the head and seem like something that could easily be implemented.

I'm not personally familiar with the philosophies of the people who run Active Rain, but I would assume (based on their business model) that they care more about attracting lots of content, than about preventing spam and dilution of their power as an authority site. Isn't that why they aren' doing these things now?
