    Default Duplication and G

    A test:
Created a page for a stupid search term and added it to a site.
    It became a PR4 and No.1 in G.
Added the same page to 3 more sites.
    They became PR2 or 3, and No.s 2 to 4 in SERPS.
The 3 were then dropped completely from G, one assumes for duplication, and became PR0.
We then added 50% more text to each of the 3, different in each case. They got the bot almost immediately, and returned to their rank in the SERPS today.
    A not unreasonable test ?

Your results are the same as many have had. If there is a dup content penalty it can be remove quickly with a change of wording/content. The penalty is removed as fast as the bots find the update/changes.

Were the web sites cross linked?
Are they on the same server?

All tests are on the same basis.
Wait for 2 updates after each change

Great test, but I don’t understand some of the questions…. Can some one explain.

If I had 2 or more sites, each individually hosted, each with unique content .( each providing a similar service but targeting a different area).

Is being on the same server a bad idea ? Why?
Is cross linking a bad idea ? why?

    Thanks ……… dave

It's a really good test. First time I've seen anyone posting results, though.

recip linking on same C will sooner or later result in the sites dropping through the floor
