Default Some Link Partners are a Waste of Time

    Hi,

I sensed a bit of frustration by Jenny in another Link Thread about the amount of time spent on linking and it started me thinking.

I too have spent entirely too much time on links. Especially chasing link partners that keep dropping my links for what ever reason.

In the past I have sent out friendly reminders (several times) and constantly checking back to see if my link appears. More wasted time!

I have started going through all 14 of my real estate sites deleting any non reciprocating links. No notice other than this and a couple more forums will be given.

I figure we are all adults, and once should be enough. I want to spend more time looking for good link partners and less time babysitting bad ones.

If I delete anyone’s link in error, please contact me and it will be restored immediately.

    Thanks,

    ~VegasMack

Question Re: Some Link Partners are a Waste of Time

Mack you hit this one right on the head! I too have spent way to much time chasing link partners! In fact it has gotten so bad that if you are not careful it can hurt your PR... You have to check them frequently...If they don't respond after giving notice I send them a nice e-mail explaining that our system has removed their link and please let us know when ours is back up! Mack is there a Link Manager that you would recommend to others because I'm tired of doing all the link admin?

Help me understand something here... if having a reciprocal link on a web page is a good thing, why would link partners be dropping them? I'm sure there's a reason, I just don't know what it is. I can also see how a Link Manager would be a great tool.

Some link partners will drop your link in order to establish a one way link from your site to theirs.

One way links inbound links carry more weight in the Search Engines than a reciprocal link according to common belief.

Other practices such as noindex, nofollow tags on unscrupulous partners link pages result in the same one way link scenario.

In all themes other than real estate my figures show only 2% or 3 % of conmen.
Real estate is far more due to the US figure.
While most countries are less than 5% of wastage, the US in real estate is 2300 out of 2700, in other words 85%.
    The lesson?
If you are in real estate, maybe you should get your links from elsewhere.

    Thailand..Now that's a good choice

Regarding a link manager, I use Reciprocal Manager (www.reciprocalmanager.com), and I'm happy with it. You can set it to automatically check your links, and if it finds someone not linking back it'll send a reminder. If next time the program checks the link still isn't there it can be disabled or deleted automatically. Was worth the money for me anyway.

It's too bad we in the U.S. can't get our links situation together. But I'm going to keep plugging away at it with the inclusion of international links.
Money Magazine says that Orland Park real estate is one of the best places to live in the U.S. Check out Homer Glen homes if you're interested in living in the newest Chicago suburb. Next door, Lemont homes are the priciest in the southwest suburbs and have held their value, even appreciating while prices in other areas have gone down.
