Different SERPS at home and work

I know google is always changing their SERPS, and that different data centers show different results at times, but lately I have seen consistently different results from home and work. The results are totally different at each location, but the same from day to day for the same location. Does anyone else notice this type of thing?

Sounds like you are using personalized search at one location and universal at the other.

Are you signed into your Google account when you are searching? I ask, because you may be seeing personalized results.

Also, an easy way to quickly check which datacenter you are using is to hover over one of the "cached" links (under the description/next to the URL) in the search results and look at the URL in the status bar for the IP addy.

I've seen the same thing on a number of occasions with different sites and it related to a different dc being served up at the separate locations.

The funny thing was that home and work were only about twelve miles apart and they consistently showed the different results.

Hopefully the data set is more pleasant at home... then just work from home more frequently.

Not signed in with Google, just different DC's serving each location.

Home and work are pretty close to each other, but of course I have different ISP at each.

It just makes me wonder how many customers see one result over the other? I don't guess it really matters as long as you are getting traffic and leads!

Jim - I've seen that same thing over and over. Home is 6 miles from work and I see different DCs. I spent time at a model 2 miles from work and 8 miles from home and was accessing a different DC there as well. At times, the SERPs are way different between the DCs, but the same on the same DCs. Wierd.

There have been times on Google that one of my home computers shows completely different results from another (i.e. the two computers are sitting within 15 feet of each other).

Yes, they are all using the same wireless router. Maybe Google is using my home as a satellite storage for datacenters without my knowledge.
