Default Thoughts on videos for listings

I've been thinking about adding videos to my featured listings like this:

    www. youtube.com/watch?v=hqGsgtcYVO8

    Any thoughts?

I would inbed the video, along with a map to the property, pictures and a regular description of the home. I'm not looking for a critique of this particular video, just the concept.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

There are some interesting ideas along those lines in this recent thread:

Wow! I missed that thread. I'm having issues because I have a DVD camcorder and it records in MPEG - 2. I need to aqcuire a video editing program that recognizes it. That's on my to do list tomorrow...

I like the idea, but, I want to try to keep it very simple. A video - maybe fade in and out of different parts of the house, some background music and contact info. 30 seconds is about all the time I'm guessing would be of value....Done well, I think it has value. However, just like a virtual tour, you must be very careful because you can not overcome objections that someone has in front of their computer. So, if it's questionable, you just can't use it. You could lose a buyer very quickly with a bad video.......Tripod's a must!

I also think it's a cool idea, if implemented correctly. I don't really have a lot of extra time to devote to a new project like this right now, but I would consider hiring it out.

You are right about the video itself - keep it relatively short and high-quality!

Yes I also posted my video there but its hard to tell the results just from putting a link in the video.

    Worth a try anyway....

    Ryan,

All I can say right now is learn everything about Youtube and how to use it. Apple has sold over 700,000 Iphones already that can easily view youtube clips, it probably will not be very long until all phones have similar capabilities.

I think you may be right. I will be purchasing some software today to create some edited 30 second movies so I can inbed the videos. Once up finished, I will post for a review of my video....Maybe! I'll have to see how it comes out first!

The problem I have is that I can't edit anything on my computer because the DVDs are recorded in MPEG-2 and I don't have a program that recognizes them for editing. I guess my thoughts are that these videos may have first been embraced by a younger generation, but, the reality is that if used effectively, they can provide a better user experience than a virtual tour or pictures can. I will have a test video completed by the time I go to sleep today, hopefully.

The more I think about it, the more uses I see for them....

A quick video about certain areas on city pages of my website, interviews...the list could get long fast so it's important to find the correct uses and not to overuse them.

    Ryan,

I see some people doing some pretty cool things with YouTube so it should not be too hard to do some video for a house.
