    Default Website Content Change?

    I am a real estate investor. I recently aquired my sales agent license and have decided to re-focus my priority toward selling real-estate as a career.

    I currently have a website geared for getting leads on investment properties. I have worked long and hard on this site and it's doing very well in google for my keywords. I'm now in need of a site for my sales business.

    Here is my delima. Since it takes so much time and work to get good results in google, my idea is to simply change my investor geared site over to my real estate sales site (keeping the same domain name). However i'm not sure if this would work? once I change the keyword meta tags and page content, would my site stay listed in google? or would it be the same as starting over from scratch?

    Well it would start over for your new keywords. Tou would have to get new links with new anchor text. It wont be an over night thing. but your domain does have age. So it might help

    Make it a gradual change as you acquire new links.

    Changing the whole profile will certainly take time and lots of efforts as the domain age is actually the only thing you may benefit

    Here's a telling example of how changing the theme of an older domain name can hinder beginning stages of SEO... I have an old domain, dallasmetroliving.com that hasn't received a warm welcome in Google rankings, even though for all intents and purposes it should.

    I assume that it will improve in time, but it's experiencing the same jerky rankings that a domain in its first year, however, it doesn't seem as bad as a brand new domain.

    jguide;

    IMO it depends HIGHLY on what investor KWs you were targeting--For example...if you were targeting "foreclosure", then it would be more difficult to go after City Real Estate than if you were targeting City Real Estate investing...etc.

    Why not do both? As you start your sales career, having a solid investor director website is not a bad thing...especially if you cater your sales to the investor type of clientele...

    My strongest kw search string for the site is "how to sell your home Georgia" some of the same keywords in page content as well as tags will work for sales; however some would need to change as well. since this site does produce some leads for sales as well as wholesale properties.I am leaning toward keeping the site and building a new one for my sales business. I would link the sites, Which brings up another question. Could this be considered by the spider to be an agent to agent link and possibly cause both sites to be penalized?
