Default Taking the "Google Pill" effects on Yahoo

My Yahoo rankings on general searches (that I used to own) disappeared over time since I did the following:

    (1) Added Google tracking code to my pages.
    (2) "Chatting" with Yahoo about my Directory rankings.

Now I'm sure this is all a coincidental!

My Yahoo rankings have been a roller coaster ride for years. We used to rank at #1 for almost everything, then we were banned for a couple of years. I managed to get re-indexed by sending repeated emails to Yahoo, since my mistake was an innocent one (re-directing a new domain to my existing site - somehow they saw this as dup content). After getting re-indexed, we languishing on page 5 or 6 for a long time, then I did the $49 annual fee for Search Submit, and we went to page one again. We gradually worked our way up to the top spot (or at least top three) for everything I cared about, then suddenly we were dropped to the second page last week sometime. We have been in the directory for several years, but this doesn't seem to affect our placement at all, other than the fact that the directory title occasionally resurfaced until I found out about the "NOYDIR" tag, which keeps them from showing the Yahoo Directory title on the serps. I don't claim to have any understanding of what Yahoo thinks is valuable anymore.

I'm currently trying the domain transfer thing myself and am hoping that a redirect will dispell any appearances of dup content.

I am attempting this on a meta tag redirect instead of a full 301.

    We'll see what happens!

I hope it works for you. I haven't ever attempted it again since that happened - I think it was about four years ago.

Jason - What is the $49 search submit. I was paying a lot more than that. (2 or $300)

I think it is coincidental, at least the Google analytics part. I've had Google analytics and I seem to rank well in Yahoo.

Bigtoe - The Yahoo Search Submit can be found at http: //searchmarketing .yahoo.com/srchsb/index.php

You can do the basic or the "pro" version (I did the basic). It seemed to work well for me for awhile, but then my site drifted back to page four again. I don't know what the cause was.

NM, I found the problem, it was me!

It's $49 yearly for each URL if you purchase the "Search Submit Basic"

    Thanks Jason!

Joshua - As I said, it had a great effect for my site, but it didn't last. I'm not sure if it was unrelated (the drop in placement) or not.
