I would note which homes are occupied by the seniors and target the audience with info they want. Great tip on the SRES designation, my wife is working on hers. I think the hand delivery works if you couch it in the terms that you wanted touch base with them personally to make it seem more like you are not just trying to save the postage. HTH.

    Hi Brian,

I would be interested in knowing what they really teach you in that class. If it is really worth while not.

Perhaps your wife could comment on the class and what all they were promoting as the best ways to reach the seniors.

I will let you know, I think she goes next month. I am putting together most of her marketing and suggested she go get it after seeing the stats on the boomers . NAR had the same idea as they just came up with the designation in March 2007 after they got the stats I assume hehe.

I will give you guys the rundown when she gets done with it. The SRES site has some info on it here: http://www.seniorsrealestate.com/sarec/ . We have quite a few 'active adult 55+' communities here in the Atlanta area, I will be making an active adult page to try and target this market.

Most people get the impression that not many seniors are using the 'net but I met a nice lady at an expo who was with a senior council (can't remember which one, info at home) and she assured me that they are there and searching. Now to just figure out how to target them on the net. I intend to do direct mailers to older subdivisions much like you described as well. I think print ads will do well with them as well, showing them that you have the SRES at least lets them know that you are concerned about their demo and have done more for them then others without it. Lots of boomers with bucks out there!

I took the class for the SRES earlier this year. Here in California it consisted of two parts, a one day classroom session and then a separate on-line self study session that had to be completed within about 30 days of the classroom date.

The course focuses on the idea of knowing where your client is coming from (generational selling). There will be information that can help you target your marketing to many groups, not just seniors.

I thought the course was well worth my time, I have many ideas that I want to implement, on and off line that I have not yet put into place.
