    Default Securing a Copyright

What is the best way to secure a copyright for a web site?

Last I checked, you own the copyright upon creation. You may be able to bundle screenshots on a CD, and register the copyright with the Library of Congress. I know that for photos, it used to be $10 for a "body of work" and I knew photographers that would have a year's worth of work in that group.

Truthfully, I haven't paid attention lately.

BTW, putting a copyright notice on the page is NOT required, but a good idea.

    Spot on,
Also, your server logs the date on which the page was uploaded, not to mention search engines cache and date pages.

Unless you designed the site or purchased the copyright you can't copyright it. If you wrote the text but placed it on a template site, you can only compyright the text portion.
