    Default Google link snippets

I have read some stuff about the Google link snippets and have found nothing definitive on exactly how to get Google to display them for my site. Without knowing too much about it, I can see it as having multiple benefits to any SEO campaign. Having a "clickable sub-directory" in the listing creates more visibility (obviously) and more direct route to the information being searched down by the user.

To see an example of Google link snippets, Google "gander mountain"

Here is what I have learned from the limited amount of information that is out there:
    • Some people say it is the traffic that gets Google to display your listing with the link snippets. If this is true, what is the level of traffic required?
    • The listings that do get the link snippets are ranked #1 but not all #1 search listings have them.

Does anyone out there know how to get Google to list your #1 ranked site this way?

    Best Regards,

Interesting question, Lou. It was my belief that if you had good site structure and the number one ranking that Google would randomly just post up links in the "snippet" fashion.

This was more of an assumption though, but definitely something I planned to investigate when I hit the top of the charts.

Absolutely; I'll surely update when I learn anything. Hopefully we can have some others chime in on this as well.

Most of the porcess must be in Google hands. When My site hit #1 they appeared they were not there before hand, nor did I put into place any special coding. Also depending on the search term there are different numbers of entries.

i think google does it when they think your site is the most authoritative and most relevant for that keyword e.g. a companay name or a product which your company makes.
you couldn't get them on long-tail keywords
