    Default Redundant phrases

    Another pet peeve of mine, including:

    hot water heater
    PIN number
    ATM machine
    IRA account

    Any others?

    He is referencing the fact that you don't need "hot" beside water heater, if it is a heater, we already know it's hot.

    PIN stands for "personal identification number" - thus "personal identification number number" just doesn't make sense - the appended use of number is redundant.
