    Default noob syndication question

I'm getting more into blogging these days, but I'm not using my REW blog as much as I should. And that's a shame because this site is so powerful. My main blog is not where it needs to be in terms of traffic or serps, but I only want to maintain one blog.

Can I get the posts on my REW blog to show on my poorly-ranking blog? Or vice versa?

Is it better to syndicate to REW or from REW?

Well first of all, you cannot syndicate "to" REW so that is a moot point. In terms of what you should be doing, you should be posting unique content on each,

You could potential manage one blog and then throw an RSS feed on the other, if that's what you mean. Streamlines the whole affair quite nicely. Not all blogs allow you to post RSS feeds, though.

But what is th point of having 2 blogs with the exact same content? only one of the blogs would get any recognition for the content. You are much better off writing unique content for both blogs if you want them both to succeed.

If only one blog gets recognition for the posts, why are RSS feeds so popular? I must be missing something.

I was also wondering about duplicate content problems and RSS feeds (not on REW, but in the larger blogging world in general). How does that work? Anyone know?

My understanding of the best use of an RSS feed is this, - To add extra value to the content you already have. For example, you could have 2 blogs that are related, say a mortgage blog and a real estate blog. You write original content on both of these 2 blogs regularly, but you realize that anyone interested in Real Estate may also be interested in a mortgage, and visa versa. You could therefore put an RSS feed of your mortgage blog posts on your real estate blog, adding to the quality content that is ALREADY there. RSS Feeds are popular I think because you can add someone elses quality content to what you already have (as long as they have given the permission of course). Many popular sites out there offer RSS feeds for your usage, and can make an excellent addition to an already content rich site. As long as it adds value to your site and could be helpful to your users, your good!

As always, Morgan please correct me if I am mistaken

As for Dup Content, there isn't so much a penalty for it, but if the search engines detect dup content, they will only give weight to what they determine is the first publication of the content in question. Im not sure how it affects RSS feeds but i would think that it would be the same or very similar.

In general, I'm not a fan of cross-posting content in numerous blogs. I'm no seo expert, but I thought that if google detected duplicate content that the website that was deemed to have copied the content might be blacklisted?
