    Default Keyword Research

I know this question has been asked a 100 times, but I will ask it again looking for more/different answers.

What software/program is everyone using to do keyword research on? I have used overture, digitalpoint, and the tools on seobook. They are pretty good but I often find that the info is skewed or not available. Does anyone use a service that you have to pay for and have they found it to be worth the $$.

I use Overture or Google Labs is pretty handy.

The best research I found was very expensive. I created a google adword for every term that was out there. Paid top dollar for each keyword/phrase and then kept track of what people were clicking on.

I look at the impressions. That is the number of times the term was searched. Surprisingly, "city real estate" is the #1 search term but it accounts for less than 50% of the searches.

I am aware of the above mentioned programs and have used them all. My question is "Does anyone use a program that they have purchased that offers more information than the freeware?"

The freeware that the search engines offer and the programs that are for sale are not very accurate. However if you initiate an ad campaign and study the data you will come up with real time statistics. This is how I found out that for every 100 people that search "city realty" there is another 30 who search for "city realIty"

An Adwords campaign is a great way to see the keywords searchers are using - especially with broad matches. Combine that with HitTail so you can capture the exact term as typed and you have a winning combination.

I've been using Seobook's keyword tool. I wonder what folks think about it. Sometimes the phrases are so oddly stated that I wonder where the information is coming from or how Seobook arrives at their results.
