    Default MLS Listings on site

Call me dumb, but I can't figure out how to put MLS on my own site. I would like to do something like this: http://www.huff.com/ I looked on my MLS main site, and there isn't anything that looks like I can "add-in" a search function on my page.

Also, what do you all think of http://www.huff.com/ It's about $600 a year per agent. I'm new, and I don't know how much more money I can spend w/o money coming in. Maybe it would be a good thing to get when I start making money. I think it is a great way to search for houses.

For what you appear to get it seems to be a lot of money. Take a look the IDX/MLS intetgration at:

Yes we did all of our own programming for the IDX integration. I just completed conventing the dynamic urls into user/search engine friendly urls and added dynamic titles and meta descriptions for the listing view pages. The site is not complete yet, I need to write a custom search page and add a lot more content. This particular site has about 2500 listings, we have two others coming online soon with 10,000 plus listings and we are in the testing phase for a site with 50,000 listings.

I noticed your site was using Open Realty. Do you have any plans to release the IDX information to the OR community?

Do you have any concerns over duplicate content because of your template(s)?

I finally figured it out. I had to get permission from my broker, and now I will be getting FTP text files of the MLS data. I suppose I will put it into a SQL server, and make an interface for users or something.

Do you have the scripting ability to do that kind of stuff, Angela?I ahve seen several nice "custom" sites with stuff like that done. If you could do it well and make it all automatic, you'd have one of the better MLS sites out there (compared to the ones with framed MLS)
Search Homes for Sale in SAN DIEGO and other San Diego Real Estate via the San Diego MLS.

I might I won't know till I get the data. I've done two database programs. One was https://www.erec.army.mil/wwl/ako_login.htm that was a sql server to locate anybody in the us army. i did the web frontend programming and the sql guy helped with the query language. I have some contacts that can help me with sql if that is the route I plan on doing. The other database I did, was I took a Sybase dump (unix databse server) and imported into access (on laptop) and then created reports. i think with lots of long hours and lots of coffee I will be able to pull it off. I REFUSE to pay somebody to do something on my site other then graphics. I AM NOT A GRAPHIC artist.

The IDX uses OR version 2 as a backend. There is not much to release to OR as each conversion is different and must be customized specifically for the MLS that the IDX data comes from. I originally started with version 1 which was a total disaster. Version 2 is much better but the layout code is still inefficient and scaling beyond 3000 records is problematic. We had to modify the OR engine which we will give to open realty. Some modifications we made were specific to the MLS and will serve no purpose in OR. OR is a first class listing management program that is highly customizable and scalable. I have not seen a commercial product that comes near the power of OR. We plan on marketing custom versions for listing management and IDX when version 2 is out of beta.

Duplicate content would be a concern if we were to release two identical conversions in the same market. It is not likely that someone else will use the same identical information from the MLS as us and from what I have seen most of the commercial solutions out there use a data feed that make it difficult for the search engines to crawl. Some features I build in are user friendly urls and dynamic titles and descriptions for each listing. Still I would would be careful about using a commercial IDX solution that will not give you an exclusive for your area.
