I spend quite a bit, but my phone never rings off of it. I get so much more from the web.
Eric, I agree...but how do you convince your clients that print is a waste of $$? I have some clients that are soooo hung up on newspaper ads. Not to mention in this market they are flipping out wanting full page ads in the NY times for a home under $1M. Tell me please?!

You won't convince them..you need to convince them (show them) that the internet is the most effective way to advertise and you put your money and effort there.. to benefit them.
Show them the stats that 85% of people start looking for homes on the internet, where they are looking for homes on your site and how you dominate the internet...and so will their listing by the ways you get their home on all the popular real estate destinations on the web and the search engines. Show them that using a Tech Savvy agent (you) will get their home sold by the ways you use the internet and technology.. whatever it takes; organic placement, PPC, optimized property specific web site, stats for visitors to your web site, etc. We have a 15 point using a Tech Savvy agent page that you may consider BS, but they usually can't counter any of the points as they don't want to sound uninformed. It works for us. A great way to differential yourself from the competiton.
We only use print advertising if it ultimately has some benefit for us.
I agree. You need to show them proof that most people go online to look for new homes. Let them know that the internet is inexpensive compared to print and that you can feature them on multiple websites. Give them examples and tell them that you get more calls about properties from internet advertising.
I used spend a couple hundred dollars a month on print marketing but I didn't get anything from it. So right now I'm starting to put all my money on the internet. There's a person at my office that farms about 10,000 houses (spends about $10 a house a year) and doing really good. Plus the area he is farming, the average house goes for $700,000!

I have a program through my virtual tour company that keeps stats of each time their virutal tour is opened and what site it was opened under. I email this link and print out for a listing presentation to show how effective internet marketing is. I advertise on 22 different sites and this shows me what top sites work and shows the client that their house is being shown, virtually, that is.

when you say print marketing, are you referring to anything above and beyond Sunday Open House ads (text) in the local newspaper?
Just asking for clarification since print marketing can take on a number of different meanings.
