    Default Google devalues dmoz?

I heard that the big g has devalued links coming from dmoz. I thought something was up when I broke through the dmoz ceiling a couple of weeks ago.

Is it true that they have devalued these links? I just got in not to long ago myself.

Does anyone have a reference for this? I haven't seen it anywhere.

From what I've read at some other forums, it has to do with a redirect issue DMOZ implemented.

Here's a reference including some info from M. Cutts talking about the homepage being re-directed to itself.

DMOZ has started to open their lines of communications with a new blog... http://blog.dmoz.org/

Ironically, last week, they didn't show up in Google when querying "DMOZ" and other terms they should have shown up for... This has since been corrected.

Regardless of how much value a listing in DMOZ currently passes, it takes a minute to submit and it's free... so, why not?

I agree, serves them right, I know many more directories that have put in half the effort and have produced twice the results. DMOZ might be a strong directory in future, but for now lots of work to do, esp. organization and quality control
