How much do video tours cost in your area?

I'm doing some market research. I'm interested in how much it cost to have a videographer come out and shoot a video of a property. To keep this as apple to apple compairisons assume the following:

• 3 minute end result video
• minimal editing
• No voice overlay, just music
• Minimal graphics

The only reason I ask is because i've found video/virtual tours to be of limited value. I just blogged about it here.

I do a 3-4 minute 'walkthru' video.... one take, walking through the entire home, compressed and uploaded to a Flash video format for $139. It's set to music. The tour is unbranded.

I do a 4-6 minute video. The home is filmed 3 times (walkthru, pans and from 10' above for interesting angles and better lighting. It's edited, compressed to 3 formats (Quicktime, WMV and Flash). I do a branded and unbranded tour. They are uploaded to about 15 video websites as well.
$200 set to music
$300 set to music with narration

I've done HUNDREDS of the $200-$300 tours (mostly the narrated tours) and only three of the $139 tours!

Good Blog and I agree with some of the points. I added some comments you maybe interested in. They are counter points to your agruments.

On virtual tours being of limited value, sorry I very much disagree. NAR stats show people looks on line first. I also have personel experience with homes sold via virtual tour.

On the video, this is something we will be offering our clients (real estate agents). It will be in addition to the still photo and advertising services we already provide. The video would be incorporated on the listing page with the stills.

Normally our virtual tours are around $170, but fortunately we get a package deal through Prudential that gets us 12 tours a month for $199. Anything more than 12 in a month and we have to pay full price.

Is this for a video tour or a virtual tour made of photos you took.
