    Default Google cache

    Good morning all,

I'm a beginner at this, and I have searched the forum for an answer to this question, but I'm stuck.

I have been working very hard on our page for 6 weeks. Inititially, we moved up in SERPS pretty quickly but the movement has just seemed to stall in the last 2 - 3 weeks. When I click on the Cached Snapshot in Google toolbar, it doesn't show an image. In Google webmaster tools, it says the bots last visited on Sept 30. Do you guys know of a reason why Google would go so long without visiting the page again? There have been lots of updates since then!

The big g has cached 21 pages from your site including your home page. Keep working on it and get some more links and it will pop back up.

Thanks for that feedback. But I'm still wondering if anyone could point me in the direction to figure out why Google doesn't show a cached snapshot. Is that related to when the bots last visited? And why would it drop that cached snapshot when it was there before? Also, why would it not visit for 10 days? Is that normal?

Is there a good site that explains the dynamics of the process?

I appreciate any insight anyone might have. I'm a newbie, so I apologize if I'm asking dumb questions!

Checked it out today and it looks like you got revisited. It's not unusual to go 10 days without a google bot visiting your site though...a few factors that have an impact on how often you get crawled are how often you update your homepage, new links and amounts of traffic.

Google Tools is not the best tool to monitor crawling. Using a log file tracker on your server is probably the best way. At any rate, most larger sites with lots of content will be crawled daily. Keep adding content and you don't have to worry about that...googlebot will keep up with you.
