Alexa ranking is not a good tool to use and only goes by the results of users who have the Alexa toolbar installed. If your Goolge ranking is going up that is all you should worry about and focus on.

I am looking for strategies to improve my site ranking in alexa. Currently, my website http://www.fortunehotels.in is having the rank 580331 in alexa which is very down. While, it's having good post in google, yahoo ect on few keywords like business hotels Gurgaon, Chennai budget hotels, hotels in Jaipur.I am doing on link exchange, directory submission, writing blogs/articles, social optimization but no improvement. alexa rank has droped even more in less than a week, but google rank still the same and have been going up in msn, I guess nobody should care what alexa ranks you for!

Alexa is very much like the Nielson Rating for TV. It is all based on sampling. It probably benefits the largest sites more to help validate traffic for ad revenue. It does not affect PR, it is nice if you rank.

Alexa is just another tool that gets everyone all worked up about where they rank. Definitely has no effect on google ranks!
