Web Design Review Please

I currently have a REW template and am working on a new design with REW. Would appreciate any comments about this new design compared to my current site.

REW does really nice work. Both look professional. The first thing that came to mind was the navigation in the header. There isn't enough contrast between the text and background in the "How would you like to search today?" area. White text on light gray background...

Funny Eddy and I had this very conversation today - I think we both agree - also Eddy just so you know, we will be likely changing the font size and type in the left navigation so it is more clear and easy to read.

Please keep in mind for those viewing this is a "comp" and the first one we did at that, so things that main seem plain like the tabs for different search points will be coming alive with use of jquery, flash etc - comps are more about general direction and layout etc.

Eddy, if you are wanting to keep a backdrop sort of image in the header area, any ideas what you would like to see? Are there any very identifying landmarks in Greenville?

I definatetly like the visual appeal of the new site. It looks customized and elegant.

I agree with the above. Let's see it after the text is a bit more clear or stands out a bit more. Just a bit too suttle in the navigation text.

Wow, great looking site!

Other than the contrast issues discussed above, my eyes kept getting caught on the top dark horizontal bands on either sides of the center. The small break of white before the main nav seems a little out of place. Doesn't seem to fit with the whole 'ribbon' theme to the site layout.

The whole site seems to have depth except this one element.

Richard is going to play around with the comp colors especially around the Grey area that many have pointed out - should have an update later today.

That is illllll....I am jelous. Everything is great except the contrast like you guys were saying & and I am not a big fan of the font size that was chosen for the navigation. Other than that this is pretty sick..
