    Default Backlinks Question?

How much of an important factor are backlinks when trying to pass competitors? Are they one of the main things to focus on?

Also do backlinks from your own site also count as much?

    Thanks.

    Default Re: Backlinks Question?

Backlinks are the most important factor to pass competition. Backlinks from websites with .edu .gov and .mil extensions are considered to have more value than just regular backlinks from .com or .net ... that is mostly because websites with .edu .gov and .mil tlds have more quality content, thus rank better in search engine.

Backlinks from your own site to the same site don't count, although they still show up when you check backlinks.

Backlinks between your own sites (between different domain names) do count as long as your sites are hosted on different IP addresses, this is done to trick search engine bots into thinking that the sites are not owned by the same person. Otherwise, if you have four or five domains interlinking between each other and they are all hosted on the same IP, the backlinks don't have much weight.
