Default Real life use of social networking

I am adding more team members to my articles submission team, and am supposed to have an ad start today - I get a notification from facebook, open it up and get

I heard you may be looking to fill some positions at your company and I was curious as to what you might be looking for. Nick told me that you may be looking to add another person to do article submissions with him and Dave.
Anyways, I'd appreciate any consideration you gave me. I can fax or email you a copy of my resume if you would like.
It's kinda cool how many people actually use these services to communicate in a way that is not just sharing funny pics, or playing games etc.

I remember a few years ago, I posted a job opening for a custom designer, and ended up getting a great one, the whole thing was conducted via PM at the forum -

Anyone else have any cool ways they have used social networking websites to further their business, or get things done? Interesting stories etc

Linked-In is good for that. My friend just got a interview for a great 6 figure income job buy using it. Other then that he was not using anything from what he told me.

    Nice.

Back in the day (early 2000's) I had some serious computer problems, and looked online how to fix them. Found a forum, and much like this one, I learned a lot and gave back. I eventually ended up getting hired by them on a temp basis, for a little around two years. They're gone now =/ But almost all of the staff is working for a geek squad type deal.

It's great when you can find on online community to take part in, AND make money while doing it
If you're not remembered, you never existed.

I think I wrote about this somewhere in the forum, nevertheless, we just closed a deal whereby the buyer found us through a Squidoo page we created about the church we go to. When I created the page, I had in mind the person who would look for a church when looking for a home. Well, low and behold, the couple now goes to our church and is very happy with the house we sold them.

That's great to hear about all the successes people had with social networks. I was thinking about tapping into facebook to see how that works, but I never got around to it yet. How has your luck been with it webmaster?
