    Question serps jumps down

Over the last two months, I have been watching my serps thru serpsarchive. xom, anyway about two weeks ago I was at 30 for keyword "city real estate", then jumped way down to 85 for two days, then jumped to 18 or 19. Now I have dipped way down again to 73. It is now three days, and I am wondering/worrying if I need to be concerned. Is this something most of you see happen alot? The first time this happened, I had linked/joined into a real estate directory. (a quality one, from what I understand from reading this forum!).

    Any thoughts?

Have you checked against the actual SERPs?

Hmmm, I tried to check that company out but came up with this: serparchive .org but I do not think that is what you are talking about.

Yes, that is what I meant, .org not .com

But at least that is an accurate ranking unlike the others.

    Keith,
I was just looking at your main pages title - and if I had to "guess" you are talking about "Charlotte real estate" if that is the case, we should probably make a modification to your pages title - right now it reads "South Charlotte NC and Union County Real Estate | Golden Realty"

In terms of large SERP jumps - yes they do occur occasionally, especially around updates

Q: Have you made any changes to your onpage (Titles, content etc) prior to the SERP change?
Starting LEC 7 soon but it won't be called LEC 7 - LEC 2012 coming soon!

I guess that piece of software is not very good then. Can you recommend a one? Or just keep googling?

I guess I want both. So I should probably make a second page? My area is South Charlotte and Union County, but most people that "Google" from the north or florida or wherever are probably just putting in "Charlotte Real Estate", so I would want that to be my primary page.

Execpt for adding in that directory, that is the only thing I did to any pages. I have not even blogged in two weeks (bad me!)

I am in a similar situation myself. I service 5 cities over 3 counties and I have chosen to make a page for each city with supporting anchor text from external links to those inner pages as well as 5-6 different anchor text combinations to the home page. This works well but it takes time, more time than normal. You also have to keep pretty good track of how many links you have coming in, what the anchor text is, and what page they point to. It helps to have your site registered in directories that allow deep links (inner pages).

Like Morgan said, you probably should think about altering your page title to something that is geared more towards what people are searching for. If you put a title of "Union County Real Estate" and then the first H1 tag on your site is "Charlotte Real Estate" you are not doing yourself any favors. They should be exactly the same or pretty close to.

    Matt
