Here's an example of a Flash application that I just found by an associate of mine, Phillip Kerman:

This app can search for listings, tell you when new properties are listed that fit your criteria, etc. Does this app peak anyone's interest?

    Best,

you have to get the user to install it, which they are not going to do.

Looks great but the install took time on adsl so dial up users won't use it, then it popped up other windows and put itself on my task bar.

No doubting that it brings great functionality to the desktop but you will also need a normal web interface (driven from the same database) to satisfy the following groups
    * search engines (if they matter to this site)
    * the disabled (still need homes, still spend $)
    * people on dialup (still the majority where I am, but you have to look at your local market)
    * the 'late adopters' who won't install anything new

Hey, I'm not a late adopter and I installed it to look, but I uninstalled it because I have too many little things like that "installed' on my comp... I like to keep my computer cleaner then my office....lol!

But she makes an excellent point! I know several people who won't install anything because they fear viruses and their computer slowing down.

It might be vey nice for super-techies, but I am sure they know where to go home searching already....lol

Cheers for the clean look and smooth feel of the app though!

Aaaah, maybe leave the link in but disable it? Others might be interested, and they can read our posts first and be warned.

Just decided to have a look at the other apps in that macromedia thingy. What a hoot (kiwi for isn't it funny) that macromedia has a "help" link on their apps that takes you to a standard browser page: because in the end the browser works!

Plus, totally USA centric, wanted to use the AccuWeather tool, where it says "ZIP code or city, state" I typed in Auckland and it says Auckland isn't valid. D'uh!
Maybe instead of AccuWeather it should read AmeriWeather
