Default Europeans investing in U.S. real estate

I got a request from a reporter in the U.K. asking about non-Americans investing in American real estate with the dollar being so weak. I haven't seen anything personally. Any of you know anything?

We have had a half-dozen or so contact forms in the last 4 months from the UK. One family has purchased a property and the other a piece of land.

I have a client from the UK who sees it exactly the opposite. He is having a hard time justifying the conversion of his money from the strong pound to the weak dollar.

If he is seeing it wrong please help me out.

We get mostly land purchases from out of country customers. Typically, they'll purchase low priced plots of land on the outskirts of town. A few have expressed interest in our condo market, but as yet none have made offers.

It depends if he feels that the dollar will continue to weaken or not.

And it depends if he feels that the real estate market is going to get worse in the US or not.

Get those 2 questions answered (from his perspective), and that'll decide if its a good time for him to buy in the US.

We have seen an increase in interest here in Las Vegas from foreign investors. A friend of mine actually did a seminar for investors over in London, targeting mostly hi-rise condo buyers and he closed a couple of deals from it.

Like Malok said, if they feel the dollar will not stay this weak for long then they stand to make a healthy profit. With Las Vegas it is easy to show statistics that indicate this market will not be down for very long - huge commercial developments, strong economy, increasing tourism and population growth all suggest this city will rebound very soon. With those two factors considered, a lot of foreign investors are starting to put money in to real estate here.

I have not seen that many Europeans, buying URL REMOVED, but a few are interested in FL properties. Some are still cautious, because they think that the Dollar is still falling.

Here is an REW blog from CityCribs about it in NY:

and here is a NY Sun Article from Sept:
Overseas, Manhattan Is Seen as a Bargain

It appears to be a popular trend from what I have read.

See the links I posted above but I also just realized that I have a real world example way out in the sticks here, a UK buyer is purchasing a home in Carrollton GA from another agent in our office, one of the airstrip homes we are featuring. Didn't get that lead though, need to get some more juice on that page lol.
