Default Am i making a good choice?

this is going to be a long post but please read through and help me out here . ill try not to tell my life story but i just want to explain my situation.

I am 20 years old and was going to college for a major that i later found out didnt pay what i wanted. I ended up taking a long break to go to florida as an insurance adjuster for the hurricanes. I was increadably supprized to see how fast money came without any type of degree. so i wanted to look into other things that are of the same type of buisness.

when i looked into real estate, i was thinking of where i could be in four years doing that instead of in college. So i enrolled in the arizona school of real estate and buisness. and i am LOVING it, yes you guys have a really messed up vocabulary that i dont think even you understand . but it is alot of fun.

    so these are my questions.

    1) am i too young?.. will people trust me to buy a house from me when im only 21? i look older than my age but that still concerns me.

    2) should i have gotten a degree first?

    3) my class is very large.. did i miss this big money boat and now its to popular?

    4) im going to need a 4 door car huh.. i just bought a ford f-150 and realized.. wait i cant drive anyone to houses.

    5) what can i expect to make when i am working under a brooker.

    6) I know this but i wanted a second opinion... is Arizona growing at a fast rate? or is there somwhere els that would be better once i am not working under anyone.

and finally... Real estate is going to be my only way of income.. i can allways adjust when a big storm comes.. but 5 hurricanes every year just wont happen.. so

    7) is it smart to just consentrate on real estate and nothing els..

My answer: yes the sky is the limit, no reason not to.

There is a guy in my office who is not much older than you. I think he is about 24 and started about a year ago. He says that people really do not have any problem with his age.
One thing that I have noticed is that he always goes the extra step to dress more professional than any of the other guys in the office. The older guys often dress like they just rolled out of bed. While the young guy always wears a professional looking suit and tie.
If he didnt dress the part, there is no way he could gain customers confidence.

!.) Never too young if smart I know many your age that are big earners

    2.)Not really most won't care

3.) lots of people never succeed don't worry about the rest. Focus on your goals

4.)Yes and it will need to be clean. Dressing for success includes your car.

5.) depends on location and company... at Exit you have more avenues for income... check out our website below click on "Exit looking for real estate agents" and yes I'm trying to recruit you!

    6. It's always best to work an area you know, but if you stick to it you can make a living anywhere.

7.) It's smart to focus on whatever you believe is your calling. Don't spread yourself too thin. Success is focus focus focus.

One more thing use spellcheck being professional is the key !

    Hi Tyler,

I do not think I have ever pointed out anothers spelling mistakes on the forum.

However, I think Sward was referring to the following:

ill means sick, I believe you meant "I will" which is I'll

didnt should either be did not or didn't

dont should either be do not or don't

    increadably should be incredibly

    supprized should be surprised

    buisness is spelled business

alot is not one word but two "a lot"

    somwhere should be somewhere

    els should be else

    consentrate should be concentrate

and in your last sentence "yes the sky is the limit, no reason not to"

    to should have been too

    Wow, did I miss any?

Now someone can come correct my spelling

Personally, I think this forum should have spell check.

I wish I had gotten started when I was younger. The sooner you start, the better. I feel my business would be double was it is today if I had started at your age. If you have already made the decision to stop college, then I suggest giving R.E. a good try.
    Good luck...

Age only matters when you don't know your stuff. You will have to work very hard at the beginning to get the knowledge that comes with experience. Someone that is 40 starting the business will not get the "how ong have you been selling real estate" question as ofter as a 21 year old. Trust me I started when I was in my mid 20's and it will only be an issue until you know the things you need to know, BTW the class doesn't help with this in the least.

You need a training focused office. Check out Keller Williams as they are way ahead of the compitition in this area. PM me if you want more info.

As for going at it from day one, you will need cash in the bank. There are lots of fees and expenses to get started and most new agents are not ready for the reality of this.

As for dressing nicer than everyone else it wasn't for me and I am a top producer. A 4 door car is a must IMO, side note: don't smoke in your car.

You should be able to get 50-60% of your commision as a new agent with a max that is collected by the office. After the office makes their "cap" 100% of your commision would be yours to keep (at least with KW).

    Back to your original post...

Do not let age get in the way. It will only be a problem if you feel that it is.

If you think that a client will perceive you as too young then they will. If you are knowledgeable and confidant you will do fine.

Remember that sales is a numbers game. You will win some and you will lose some. Best word to add to your vocabulary is NEXT.

You said that you are in Arizona. Great! Terrific market with lots of opportunity.

Keep in mind that there are 50,000 agents in Arizona. Everyone has a brother, sister, uncle, or nephew that has a license but...

Most will never accomplish much. There was a survey done awile back by a real estate school and each student was asked why they wanted to be in the real estate business.

The number one answer given was: "I want a job that I can earn lots of money and not have to work too hard."

    We call that Fantasy Land.

With ideology like that we can identify the beginning of failure.

So study hard, learn your market inside and out, keep going to continuing education classes, get your professional designations, and treat this like a business and not a hobby.

    Good Luck!

yea, i type how i talk. its a habit i learned talking to friends and girls on instant messenger that i need to work on. I knew what he was talking about i was mostly joking.

I visited there site and its a... sorry it is.. a great site!.. they share a lot of good information. I will defently be sending a pm to ya.

I umm.. dont understand how anyone can think selling a 450,000 dollar home is easy. I see it as a business that has a large payoff for the work you do, compared to most businesses.

For instance.. the work i did in florida as an insurance adjuster.. was very easy money.. but it was deffinently hard work.. it is easy now when the checks come in to say "insurance adjusting is so easy" but i would NOT ever say that while i am working a storm.

The hardest thing for me right now.. is when i sit down to study i keep on just going on the internet and looking for sites such as this one. I cant stand sitting there studying when i could be looking at stats of sales or experienced brookers giving information..

so if you mean studying in that sense than i have it covered.. but if you mean studying like study for the test, thats a different story lol.

another thing, how hard is this test exactly. i mean if i sit through every class and just get a general idea of each subject, will i pass? or should i be studying like a masters degree final.
