    Steve,
    I am so sorry to have short changed you. I thought all night about how low that number seemed over a 30 year period.

    Recalculated today:
    N = 30 I/YR = 13 PV = -250,000 PMT = -150,000

    and (drum roll please)

    FV = $59,476,241.44

    That's what I would take for the URL.

    Some of you math wizs check and see if that's right.

Compounding does magical things and I am sure that you need to place a value that does not short change you. Perhaps you should get your financial calculator out, plug in $250,000 as the present value, say 30 years for the remainder of your working career, a 13% rate of return (blue chips with their dividends included easily obtain this over extended time periods), and assume that you are going to generate at least an additional 150,000 a year to your net and will invest at the same rate for the same period. Now, when you get that huge number for the future value, come back and let me know what it is.

    Just to save you a little time, my HP 10B says that the Value of your site is $5,686,528.00 - and think about it - in 30 years you should have thousands of names in a database that has some value to someone else that is in the business that you could sell or get referrals from.

    Your legal counsel needs to help you put some real numbers with the value of your URL and needs to know that the value of the URL is from your efforts not the words within it and also that that value stays with the URL and can't be transferred to another.

    Send me a PM sometime and let's get together sometime soon for a cup of coffee and a donut.

    Do you think maybe Art would buy it if I gave him a 50% discount? I would hire you as my financial advisor and we could set up a base of operations in the Caymans registering domains with "MLS" in them.

    I've got a better idea - sell him the URL - stay in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores and sell lots of these bargain priced properties from your new domain that you build value into! The timing will be perfect.
