Default Content : How much is enough?

I'm curious as to how everyone feels about adding content. I understand the importance of fresh content but my question is how much content per day/week should be added to your site?

Right now, I average about 3-6 content pages each week. Is this higher, lower, or about average to the amount of content pages everyone else is adding?

    Thank you in advance.

I change and add content on a daily basis. I don't think there is any particular formula to the equation. As long as you are being pro active and adding relevant content/pages and improving existing content/pages as frequently as possible you should be in good shape. You might rotate, add/change content to website one day, work on articles/blogs the next, and swith to SEO/link building a couple days a week

I like watching what the competition is doing too, the new trending tools at marketleap dot com are really cool for comparing sites against each other, you can see charts which show links & pages indexed over time, very interesting and shows who is on the move and what the engines are doing too.

What's your goal? What's your purpose?

If you're looking to rank #1 for Pinehurst Real Estate, for example, then adding specific content is more important then just content in general.

If you're are looking to keep viewers on your site, market data and content germane to what they are looking for is more critical then content for the sake of content.

If you are attempting to convert viewers to leads and clients, then enough content comes when you get high enough in rankings that furnishes you enough viewers that produce the number or contacts that turn into clients.

Take what you want to accomplish and work it backwards.

Quality verses Volume won't ever change as ranking #1 for Pinehurst Real Estate is meaningless if I do by shear volume of content and it doesn't make the viewers to act. I am more in that point myself. I have many more viewers and rank far better then ever ~ but I have toned down and made my homepage smaller that I don't get the numbers of responses I use to.

For me, Volume is not key now, but content that creates trust and creates a call to action is far more critical for my goals.

I also found out that when I add too much content that I drop like a rock in rankings and for my site that is like adding more then 3 or 4 pages at a time, but I know others here that don't lose serp and can add several times that and it only helps.

Just my opinion, it looks like you are right on the verge of where you should be getting some volume.

Looking quickly at your site I would suggest:

1 that you make your city pages a little more engaging and less data centric.

2.Keep the data but blend it in, and use the city real estate where it can make sense.

    3. create more city real estate pages.

You are about to get busy from the site.

The best content is the ability to view homes easily. The text on my site does not change much. It seems to be the right balance of keywords and local information. The new content is the list of homes available in my preset searches. I get a lot of repeat visits for my searches.

Having access to available inventory is absolutely crucial, but normally (With any decent IDX solution) that takes care of itself as it is updated daily.

There really is no rule of thumb - it just comes down to what you think "your" users want. Come up with a strategy that builds loyalty. What are your readers interested in? Blog about it - are they wanting market updates, do you have a unique writing style that is engaging, build some reputation by showcasing "you" as a person AND a professional - show your prowess.

In terms of static content (Page not blog) content - there are literally thousands of keywords to target in ANY market, so once you have well converting pages for your main areas - hit up round two for secondary keywords, then tertiary keywords etc - rinse and repeat

one thing a lot of people neglect is "effort" - don't just create pages for the sake of creating pages, or targeting keywords. Put effort and insight into each blog post, and each static page.

I was reading a post by Ryan Ward just today, and it made me want to ask questions - here is the post http://www.realestatewebmasters.com/...ard/3750/show/

He posted some graphs and explained them well - but I couldn't help wondering "ok so inventory for condos is WAY up" but what does the population trend look like for the city, can it support it? Are things as glib as they appear from the graphs? Content that inspires questions, also inspires contacts

I'm curious what other people are doing as well. I try to add a page a week to both websites that I have. Not sure if that's aggressive enough, but it's what I have time to do right now so that's the plan.

Anyone else care to share what they do? Just reading DFW Broker's answer in another topic had me thinking I'm doing about the bare minimum to promote my site, but if others are doing 3 to 6 then I'm just slacking not stagnating!
