Default Clueless about where to begin- website help please

Hi all. I’m not a new agent, but have spent the past 11 years in new home sales where I did not have to worry about any marketing- Now I’m heading back to the general re platform, and want to have as much presence as I possibly can working with quite a limited budget.
I think I’d like to start with the point2 free template, and as knowledgeable as I thought I was, boy am I a novice! I know I want to have SEO’s in place, but I haven’t a clue!
Any ideas as to where to start? I know I’ve got to change the boiler plate content, but then what??? How do I add my own info (ie- mls searches), how should I link, and what to???
I’m feeling so overwhelmed with the entire process. I know what I’d like to achieve, just not a clue as to getting there.

    Your help is greatly appreciated-
    Heidi

Heidi you might also check into the REW templates. The last time I checked they were very reasonable priced.

    Heidi,
For technical questions regarding "how to" for the Point2 platform, you really should be asking point2.

But for the more intangible questions - "how and what to write" - "what are links, which are good, which are bad, and why do I need them" that sort of stuff, REW forums are probably the best place you can be. Don't feel daunted, Rome (And good websites) are not built in a day. Just spend some time each day reading through the appropriate forums, ask questions, give answers, engage discussion and you will be surprised how much you learn.

It is important to learn before you do - but learn in small bits so that it is digestible, and apply in small bits.

Some good things for you to start looking into right away:
Keyword research: What tools are available to find out what people are searching for, and how do I best use them. What standard keywords should every Realtor target, what are long tails (This is really important for a new site)

Titles: How do I create a page title that is both search engine friendly, and constructed to improve click through rate yet still has great readability.

Meta description: It's important, but not for SEO? huh? Once again, think click through rate.

On page content: I need to learn how to write with my visitors and conversion in mind (Not SEO) but somehow include SEO, how does this happen?

Creating a diverse linking portfolio, while avoiding negative linkage situations.

Looks like you have some homework to do
