    Default File size for photos?

What's the optimum file size for each photo on a website to have them load quickly still have good resolution? How many pictures would you recommend putting on each community page 2-3?

A recommended page size should be under 150k (Google guidelines). For listings it's better to use smaller images 300x300px , optimized for web.

300x300 is way too small. Shoot for 750 X ~500. I would keep the file size under 150K this year. These number will also need to be adjusted depending on your market. If you are in a an area with a lot of dial up connections, make the picture smaller. If more connection are high speed, move toward larger photos.

I would think that most people in my area are on highspeed.

Neal, I'll go with your suggestion and see how long it takes to load. I just wanted a basic starting point. Thanks for answering Neal & Gibex!

If you use Google's Analytics you can tell exactly what the percentage breakdown beteen the different connections.

I just checked out the Google's Analytics information. It looks like a useful tool to install. Once I get the site up and running I'm going to put it on the pages. Thanks for the tip, Neal!
