I've been lurking for a few weeks. Thought I would formally introduce myself.
I'm a realtor in Atlanta and have been working hard on my web site for about 6 months now trying to improve my rankings in Google and Yahoo. I've read as much as I could on the subject and tested many things out. I've been obssessed with Google rankings. I have been very lucky. I am #1 in both for "Atlanta homes" and #1 or #2 for "Atlanta MLS". The number and quality of leads have been very good since obtaining these positions.
My site isn't that flashy and it has a lot of words. But it's working well. I try to keep my writing on a very personal level and hopfully connect with visitors in some way. I try to provide as much information as possibe. I figure that many Internet users are information maniacs so I don't skimp on the details.
I've focussed on one main point to attract people to my site. "Free access to the MLS, no registration, no agents calls, no email spam. When you are ready to look at homes, give us a call. Tour 15 homes in 3 hours." I get them using my home search tool that I get from ListingWare. They can set up their own listing alert email system and such. I was never good at following up with people who had registered to use the site. By not forcing a registration, I'm getting people calling me. It's a much nicer position to be in.
I would love to find a group of 10 realtors to do some cross linking like some of the other members in this forum have done. I have over 500 pages indexed by Google and could easily put a link out from every page.
Atlanta Realtor, it might be an interesting experiment to see how cross linking two Atlanta real estate sites would help each of us. They say that links from similar sites help the best. You can't get much more similar and on topic than our sites. We could dominate the SERPS.
I look forward to sharing my two cents on the various topics here.
