    Default Domain Name Change

I would like to change my domain name from www.teresapollock.com to www.greaterraleighrealty.com. What steps are required on the backend to make this change? I have purchased the new domain name, and I have the instructions on how to setup the DNS information. As far as email addresses, I would just to change everything from %name%@teresapollock.com to %name%@greaterraleighrealty.com.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hello,

It's a relatively simple process ... takes about 1hr billable time to complete.

All you will need to do is point the dns for the new domain to the same ones as www.teresapollock.com - ns1.rewhosting.com and ns2.rewhosting.com

What did you want to do with www.teresapollock.com? Just a redirect to the new domain?

I would like to redirect www.teresapollock.com.

Regarding emails coming into teresapollock.com, can those be auto forwarded to the new email address?

Also, please have the hour billed to me.

Thanks for the quick response Aaron.

Yes - I will forward the emails to the corresponding new ones. I'll get this in the queue for this week.

One last question. I registered the domain name with GoDaddy. Do you know how long the new DNS change will take?

Usually anywhere from 4hrs - 72hrs - In my experience I've noticed that new domains or domains that have been parked at the registrar take less time to change.

    Aaron,

Do you have a status update on the Domain Name change? When can I expect this to go into effect?

    Thanks

You will also want to do a 301 redirect from your old site to your new one.

This is extremely important to preserve the equity in your old site and forward it on to your new one.
