Too Many Spam Comments on my Blog

I have two outside Wordpress blogs and one of them receives a lot of spam. Has anyone else had problems getting a lot of spam comments on their blog? I am able to moderate (and spam) all comments, but I am getting at least 10 spam comments a day. Is this normal?

I did list the blog receiving the majority of the spam in two blog directories.

Has anyone else had this problem from these directories?

Spam seems to be a reality of running a blog. I would suggest looking into SpamBam (plugin), which has completely eliminated spam on our wordpress blog.

Congratulations. This means your blog is being circulated/syndicated around the web. Submit to more syndicators and delete the spam.

I will look into that plugin also as mine has been plagued with about 100 odd pages of spam to delete over the holidays which is a real pain!

I use Akismet and find this has stopped all spam comments so far. Being relatively new to the blog world, I'm not sure if there are better....but for me, this is doing the trick.

Also make sure that you are using the nofollow attribute in the links from your blog comments. That will deter some of the spammers since they don't get any value out of the link that way.

Akismet is killer. Your WP blog comes with it, you just have to get the API and enable it.

I get a few spam comments on my blog everyday as well.
