Website hosting Company & Google

Hello all!

I use godaddy.com to host one of my websites. I use them because they are cheap and easy to use. They don't seem to be a "high-class" operation, in my opinion. Does anyone else have an opinion of them?

Does the host / server company that you use for your website affect how google ranks you? If you were to switch hosting companies, would this hurt how you are ranked? By switching hosting companies, would you end up starting all over in the serps?

Thanks for any input that you can give.

If you change your hosting provider there will be only two changes in record about your site: DNS1 and DNS2
(DNS = Domain Name Server) + change of IP address. This changes doesn't affect on SERPS.

go daddy is a great company!! good product and cheap.. I used them for hosting until we set up our own server.. Still use them for almost all of my domain registrations.. My experience with them has been fantastic

The only thing I have ever heard good about godaddy is in the above post.

I don't trust them. Ask Morgan about the days when their hosted sites had problems with Google . They were told by SEO's that they were causing a problem and godaddy said tuff luck.

Disclaimer on above statement:

I have been told that GoDaddy was doing something that caused their hosting clients to get banned. I can't remember but I thought it was for cloaking. Maybe Morgan can come explain what happened.

I have also read that godaddy blocked the googlebot from all of their hosted sites.

In either case, too much bad publicity for me to consider them as an option.

wow. I never even knew there were issues with them, I've never had any. Well....Except when we sent out close too 1 million emails. They didn't like that, even if it was not sent from their servers. Their tos state you can not use email marketing to any sites registered or hosted by them, reguardless if it is sent from their servers or anyone elses.
