When social networking though, would you avoid topics that are real polarizing like Politics or religion or just not have a particular stand on them? That one is real easy for me because I can really see things from many different perspectives.

I reached out to my address book to get them as a "connection" on linked in -- as well as friends-- that started a few e-mails back and forth. Then I got a listing from a client I havent talked to in a while.

Sounds like it's working just as expected, Dena. Have you also seen a positive impact on your website traffic?

I cant say LinkedIn has caused any website traffic-- yet. I still havent developed my profile. You know-- all of this stuff just takes time. I have received traffic from posts on Trulia Voices.

Now with that --- its difficult -- because rather than giving honest feedback for the sake of giving it -- like here. The realtors on there are all trying to real in a customer. There are a few message board hogs on there.

But I have gotten a few leads because they were looking at investment property and I am a specialist in that area. So that worked out ok. But the message board hogs are a real turn off. You know the ones who have to reply to every stinkin post and who alway try to "one- up" the other guy. I could see where trulia may be a good source in some areas.

In a way -- though-- I hate to participate in trulia because all we are doing is seeding their forum with keywords that we will later be competing for. So for that reason-- I am more inclined to spend my time on my own site.

islander- Our office has seen an impact in traffic coming specifically from REW blogs...less so from other sites such as active rain where much of the traffic is agent focused...in general where an individual post can rank, it can generate traffic...

Linked In is my favorite social networking site and I would highly recommend staying on there and developing your profile, along with your contacts. It may not get you a ton of traffic, but it will be great for reputation management.

I was wondering if anyone could refer me to a source that has data on which of the social bookmarking and social news sites have the highest number of users. If anyone out there has this data I would love it if they would share.
