    Default Snippets

I am waiting on my new REW IDX. I am wanting to start adding pages and content to the custom site, but did not want to waste effort if I could do things easier by waiting another week.

I was wondering if you guys might share:
    • What are the different types of snippets that are available?
    • What are the snippet must haves and what do they do?
    • What is the custom snippet you use most?
    • What would the snippet you don't have yet do?
Is there a way to have a default setup page that you can replicate with the snippets already in place and then just update the code specific to the new page?

From looking at some of the sitemaps there is much effort formating each page. I was wondering if pages can be generated for each complex and subdivision in the MLS with a default setup format and hidden until I get a chance to go edit and add text to the pages?

    Thanks for the help!

Cal - I checked your backend and your sample snippet has not been created yet - I am going to create it first and then give you a quick tutorial here

I have given it some thought and think I want to transition my old site over completely to the new site. I will keep the Point2 NLS for syndication and handshaking but plan on moving over most all of the content pages (250 +/-) and not have to get confused or worried about duplicate content issues or having to dream up new text for so many pages.

I think that most all of those old pages will be added as hidden pages on the new system and I wondered about what the advice was for page address's for those only (I am using your keyword seperated by a - format for naming all new pages - city-real-estate.php) .

Will it mater that there would be 2 types of keyword pages - (i.e Gulf-Shores-Bayfront-Condos.php for the new page and Gulf_Shores_Bay_Front_Condos/page_1735113.html too? )

Or do you recommend sticking with the new page naming scheme and paste the old content into the new page with the new page adress?

If the .html is copied from old page and pasted into the source part of the editor in the new page, will the CMS pull the titles and tags from the .html or does that have to be copied and pasted over as well within the editor?

My wife is out of town for several days. I could really churn through a good bit this weekend if you could let me know a few things to get started on without making a mess.

    Thanks!

P.S. After proofreading, I appologize for how poorly this reads, but can't think of any better way to ask what I am asking (Transition quickly, smartly, and with minimal chance of screwing up new efforts or old positions).

P.S.S. I have looked for threads advising others in transition and had difficulty finding relevant threads. Any of those would be helpful.

    Bump!
    Morgan,
Your post in a thread about redirects answered most of the questions in the post above.

Still waiting on snippet tutorial though, did I miss it in a blog somewhere?

Yeah I still have no idea what a snippet is or how to do/use it.
