I'm also using Firefox on the Mac, and I found a workaround for our problem. In the View > Zoom menu, make sure Zoom Text Only has a checkmark next to it. Then hit command-dash (the command key plus the minus sign) to reduce the text on the page. That will shrink the box on the left so the green arrow graphic comes out of hiding. Voilà, no PC needed!
