we've been stumbled upon a number of times and it does seem to create a blip in traffic however it doesn't seem like its 1) very sustaining, 2) targeted clients.
Regardless, it is a cool and addictive tool!
I had never heard of StumbleUpon before reading this thread. I am so ignorant about social networking. thanks to all who shared their expertise.
Cheers

Stumble Upon turns into links if you find ways to make your blogs fit certain categories while still keeping key words that you want to rank for in the text. Stumbling blogs on self directed IRA's and how they can be used to invest in real estate. Tax shelters that owning real estate can give. These type of articles if written well seem to end up getting links from other investment blogs. They also do well at continuing to get stumbled keeping your traffic up. Now Stumbling your listings dies quick. I think the community must give thumbs down on how fast the traffic dies.
I have tried stumble upon but have not found the magic bullet yet on this one

I have had a couple pages "Stumbled Upon" and the traffic from them was really pretty to look at but I did not really receive any great value from it in the short or long term. Over the course of a three hour span one article generated over 200 hits. Over the following 3 days it topped out at around 900 new/unique visitors combined from their site.
I was thrilled to see the traffic but it was not well targeted and the visitors came to the site for one purpose and that was to read that article and then leave. Traffic from Stumble to that article stayed on my site for around 2 minutes which is how long it would take to read my average article. From Google and Yahoo traffic to the same page lasted 8+ minutes because the visitors would browse other pages.
Again for me it was fun to look at but did not really do much for me.

So lately I have been reading that google may be using google analytics in its algorythem.
Assuming this is true (VERY BIG ASSUMPTION) don't you think the very high bounce rate/very short time spent on a page about real estate would hurt your web rankings considering most people who stumble aren't looking for real estate they are looking for funny/interesting websites?
I don't know the percentage of stumble in my traffic but
it really did great on my blogs and the site I'm working with
right now.
I agreed with everything, and to add my two cents. I had built a couple of sites and all I did was press my stumleupon button, low and behold, less than 12 hours later I was indexed and ranking on page 2. So as you can guess I stumble everything now. I even stumbled this thread for the fun it.
