You should involve yourself in those things that interest you and those that you will maintain on a regular basis. Like anything, you get what you put into it, except in this case, over time, I believe the payoff will be exponential to what you put in

I definitely agree. I do tend to spread myself thin when using Social Networks and the such. There is definitely a difference in the results you get from the ones you apply effort into and the ones you just sign up for. It is the exponential return that makes the effort worthwhile.
