Custom real estate property search

Hello, I'm a web developer and I'm working with a client who wants a more native look and feel to their website.

I'd like to implement a custom property search based on PHP/MySQL, but I've had quite a time attempting to find any relevant, helpful information. So here I am.

All I really need to know is, where is the data coming from and how can I get access to it? Are there any API's available to speed up this process?

Tell your client to go to his MLS board and request access to a "raw data feed" and assign you as the developer. I am assuming your client is a Realtor in good standing with his local MLS board.
