Default Stats are what Stats are - right?

I just joined this site after reading some great posts for the last couple weeks. I wanted to get everyone's input on stats. There are tons of options out there obviously to track your own privately; pay a lot of money and use others methods; or throw your stats out on a platform everyone can see.

Your stats are - your stats right? I love the way Quantcast.com is putting everyone on a level playing field (i promise i have no relation to them ) Anyway - what i wanted to ask was - why doesn't everyone put their little script on their websites so that stats can be compared on the same platform and in an honest way? It seems like it would be excellent for all users online to have ONE way to see traffic on websites. What do you all think?

Probably because everyone has their personal preferences. Why are there different blogging platforms? Plus, once you get comfortable with a stat package, there really is not much need to change.

I use StatCounter on my site and they give you the option of making your stats viewable to users. Their tools are really comprehensive and leave nothing out and best of all it's free (for a log size of 500). I am sure their are plenty of other similar tools I guess I just stumbled upon them first.

I use statcounter as well. Have been very impressed. If there should we one stat counter, why isn't there 1 search engine? There is too much competition for there to be one true stat tracker.
